Directions:

Refrigerated Shelf Life

When stored properly in an airtight container in the refrigerator, homemade ranch dressing can last for about 1 to 2 weeks. The key is to ensure that the dressing is tightly sealed to prevent any contamination from other food items in the fridge.

Signs of Spoilage

It's important to keep an eye out for any signs that your homemade ranch dressing may have gone bad. If you notice any changes in color, texture, or smell, it's best to discard the dressing to avoid any risk of foodborne illness.

Separation and Fresh Ingredients

One common issue with homemade ranch dressing is separation, where the ingredients may split over time. If you notice separation, simply give the dressing a good stir or shake to mix everything back together. Using fresh ingredients, especially dairy products like buttermilk and mayonnaise, can also help extend the shelf life of your homemade ranch dressing.

Freezing for Extended Storage

If you have a large batch of homemade ranch dressing that you won't be able to finish within 1 to 2 weeks, consider freezing it for extended storage. Simply transfer the dressing to a freezer-safe container, leaving some room for expansion, and store it in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw the dressing in the refrigerator before using and give it a good stir to reincorporate any separated ingredients.
